About Me
I’m a Newcastle-based freelance copywriter with over ten years of editorial and marketing experience. Skilled in writing high quality brand-aware copy for charities and independent businesses, I specialise in creating bespoke content for e-newsletters, websites, and social media, as well as printed media of all kinds, from books and magazines to promotional literature.
As well as being a published writer with a meticulous eye for detail and quality, I’m also an astute proofreader and copy-editor who finds a great deal of satisfaction in tweaking and polishing written work of all forms and styles. Since setting myself up as a freelance copywriter in 2017 I’ve provided professional writing and editing services for clients based across the UK and beyond.
My interest in professional writing and editing was first sparked at university when I successfully completed my BA degree in English. Since graduating I’ve undertaken various editorial and marketing jobs through which I’ve further honed my naturally strong language, writing and communication abilities.
Prior to arriving in Newcastle I cut my teeth in the publishing industry interning with The Bristol Post and Real Design & Media before being taken on as a full-time editorial assistant at Food & Drink Guide. More recently I’ve completed writing commissions for a range of publications, including Foster Talk magazine, Birkbeck Events Blog, and the Norway-based human rights periodical, Shuddhashar Free Voice. From 2020-23 I worked with Tyneside Cinema, including the charity’s partner food and drink establishments: Tyneside Bar Cafe, Vicolo, and Tyneside Coffee Rooms, to support the design and delivery of numerous digital and direct marketing campaigns.
With a master’s degree in Writing Poetry from Newcastle University successfully completed, and a PhD at Northumbria University currently underway, I’m well-equipped to write and creatively edit content that is not only tailored to your individual story-telling requirements, but imaginative, engaging, and pleasurable to read.
