WHAT ARE WORDS WORTH?

A second iteration of a collaboration with Gateshead-based artist Craig Stewart Johnson which debuted at the WHAT ARE WORDS WORTH? group exhibition at Gallery North, Newcastle in 2024. Exploring the notion of language beyond traditional understandings of the written word, our project was selected for inclusion in Loughborough University’s 2025 Drawing Experience exhibition alongside other works reflecting on how the lived body experience of perception can be translated into a graphic code.

ALL THE COLOUR OF THE DARK

A giallo film-inspired creative project initiated by Hong Kong-based poet and artist, Oli Johns. Involving 13 participants, the project contains a range of text-based and visual works created in response to Sergio Martino’s 1972 film, All the Colours of the Dark, and Oli’s ekphrastic response to its narrative and soundtrack. The completed document, which spans 130 pages and took 6 months to complete, is available to view and download from Psycho Holosuite.

[UNTITLED]

In April 2024 I worked with Gateshead-based sound artist Craig Stewart Johnson to create a new artwork exploring the notion of language beyond traditional understandings and expectations of the written word. Presented as a work-in-progress live performance captured on duel video, [untitled] was recorded and filmed over two consecutive days atGallery North in Newcastle upon Tyne, where it later featured as part of the WHAT ARE WORDS WORTH? exhibition and events programme from 22 April to 11 May 2024. Watch the videos we made and read more about our collaboration here.

EUROPEAN POETRY FESTIVAL 2022

A collaboration with the London-based poet, Katerina Koulouri devised for the EPF York Camarade. The poems that Katerina and I created were written via a process of erasure using language found in film reviews of Jonathan Glazer’s 2013 film, Under the Skin. They were performed via collective reading with audience members at Spark Studios, York on 7 July 2022. A video recording of our performance can be viewed here.
